The marketing manager’s comment comes after a number of fake Spar competitions have circulated on Facebook recently.
Three of the posts have received well over two thousand comments in total, so it is clear that there are many people who are not clear that it is a fake Spar account that is behind the competitions.
In the three aforementioned competitions, consumers are tempted with a gift card of NOK 10,000 if they participate.
– We think it is absolutely terrible and we are doing everything to secure our customers and merchants in this situation, and are working to stop it. Unfortunately, this is something that many people experience, also in our industry, on social media. We have informed our customers and encourage them to be careful and not click on links, respond to messages or participate in these competitions, explains Martin Munthe-Kaas, marketing manager at Spar Norway, to DinSide.
Munthe-Kaas adds that there is continuous work on reporting the pages and that they greatly appreciate everyone who has made Spar Norway aware of fake pages.
– Should you come across such a post, report it as spam/fake page to Facebook and let us know.

The marketing manager refers to the following list if in doubt:
We will not ask you to click on a link to receive a prize or leave any personal data.
Pages with less than 100 likes and few previous posts are usually fake.
A brand cannot add you as a friend, so you must never approve such requests.
We cannot send you a message unless you have commented on a post or sent us a message first. If neither case is true and you receive a message, we recommend ignoring and deleting it.
