Codemasters has confirmed that if you planned to buy Dirt 5 for the PlayStation 4 first, you will not be able to bring your save file to the PlayStation 5.
In a Tweet Codemasters reports that all data on Xbox can be transferred from the current to the next generation console. At PlayStation you can only transfer the Playground creations. There is still a bit of hope, because Codemaster also reports that if this changes they will report it.
Currently on Xbox, all progress can be carried over between generations. On PlayStation, your Playgrounds creations can be carried over, but other game progress (Career, currency, saved liveries) cannot. If that changes, we’ll let you know!

This is not the first time that PlayStation users have this in the next generation. With Yakuza: Like a Dragon it is also not possible. Before that, it was also confirmed that PlayStation 4 users could not bring their progression to the PlayStation 5.
However, Yakuza has a gap of four months between the launch of the PlayStation 4 and 5 versions. That’s just the case with Dirt 13 days, but then of course you still have to be equipped with a PlayStation 5 at launch.
Dirt 5, like Yakuza, uses Xbox’s smart delivery feature, which apparently makes it possible to transfer your progress regardless of which platform you play on.
