It happened a week ago in the Ascenso: two factions of the Laferrere fanbase got into a shootout. That same day, at Independiente’s stadium, a group of fans attacked another in the stands. And it also happens in the regional leagues. Violence dominates Argentine football from North to South. Now, the news comes from the Rafaelina Leaguein a match for the permanence of the First A between Ramona Sports y Argentinean from Vila: The match was suspended 38 minutes into the second half due to attacks on the visiting players and the referee. They even threw a bicycle at them.
Argentino de Vila came to the rematch to defend the 1-0 they had achieved at home with a goal from Manuel Bustos. The match heated up as Deportivo Ramona failed to equalize. But everything exploded at 29 minutes of the second half when Nicolás Dondo extended the lead for Argentino de Vila, sealing the series and ensuring their permanence in the First Division of the Rafaelina League.
Dondo celebrated the goal near the Deportivo Ramona fans, which was taken as a provocation by the local fans. Then, irrationality took over the fans and objects of all kinds began to fly; sticks, stones, bottles and even a bicycle were thrown at the visiting players.
In the midst of the attacks, the worst part was borne by referee Leandro Aragno: the images show him on the ground holding his face. The police had to intervene and, a few minutes later, he managed to get the fans to stop their aggression. When he was able to recover, Aragno had to suspend the match.
According to the newspaper La Opinión de Rafaela, in the city’s Primera B league, a match between Belgrano de San Antoni and Moreno de Lehmann was also suspended due to incidents. Referee Ángelo Trucco had to suspend the game at 42 minutes of the second half when Moreno was winning 4-2 as visitors.
The Rafaelina Football League is now expected to decide the situation of both parties.
In the other relegation match, Atlético Juventud managed to stay up. Although they lost 3-2 against Atlético Esmeralda, Rafaela’s “Juve” stayed in the category thanks to the 3-1 they achieved in the first leg.
