«With great concern I learned that the service of the Operational Unit 118, always located in Policastro Bussentino, a hamlet of this Municipality, is undergoing a partial weakening due to the alleged displacement of only the medical staff to another territorial headquarters, effectively leaving the headquarters without the necessary medical aid skills». The alarm was raised by Giovanni Fortunato mayor of Santa Marina who wrote to general director of ASL Salerno et al director of Sapri Health District 71.
Il first citizen he then added: «Considering that, in the event that what was proposed was true, we would be moving towards the absurd paradigm of an emergency structure without the personnel necessary to make it work. For this reason, given the interest in the protection and defense of the rights of the community I represent, I urgently asked to be reassured about any weakening and/or relocation of the Policastro Bussentino 118 unit and, if necessary, to be informed on the reasons for the possible organizational reorganization that determined this choice», concluded Fortunato.
