Biography

Philippe Ariotti studiedDramatic Arts and lyricalthen turned to acting (movie theater, theater, television).

Cinephile from an early age, he was a winner of the television show Mr Cinema from Pierre Tcherniaon 1970.

Philippe Ariotti is a specialist in pre-war French cinema, speakerhost of film club and co-founder of the record label Tiffany’s.

A man of the theatre, he also takes part in numerous dubbing for film and television. He is also best known for being the French voice of two emblematic characters from Dragon Ball: Piccolo and Frieza.

Radio

On Courtesy Radiohe leads with Philippe d’Hugues the Libre Journal du Cinéma until 2016 ; they are replaced on this date by Jérôme Besnard and Pascal-Manuel Heu.

Recognized cinephile, he is Laureate of the show Mr Cinema on 1970. As such Pierre Tchernia asks him to collaborate in the drafting of the files of Monsieur Cinéma de Louis Jouvet, Arletty, Pierre Fresnay etc.

As an author, he participates in numerous reviews and works specializing in the seventh art, in particular:– Pierre Brasseur (co-author: Olivier Barrot at “Avant-scène” editions in 1974)– Arletty (in collaboration with Philippe de Comes, editions Henry Verrier. Several reissues)

In 1984-1985, he participated in the Grand Dictionnaire illustré du cinema published by Atlas.

In 1992, the Encyclopædia Universalis editions called on his knowledge to publish L’Almanach du cinema. This work, republished in 1995, obtained on the occasion of the centenary of the cinematograph, the “prize of the Syndicate of the Critics of the Book of Cinema”.
