Saulkrasti choir “Anima” together with Raimonds Pauls records a patriotic song / Article

“It was a great honor and excitement for us to record with Maestro this beautiful, emotional and deeply true song, which was made during the restoration of Latvia’s independence and which has been in my mind since childhood, when I went with my grandparents to the senior choir’s rehearsals in Pastende. I heard and already sang along, “said the choir ‘s artistic director, conductor Laura Leontjeva. The song experienced its most emotional performance at the 1993 Song Festival, when it was conducted by the outstanding Ausma Derkēvica. “I felt a deep need to record something so special that as we approached the holiday, we would be reminded to raise our heads and realize our inner strength, surviving the song in a sensitive and close atmosphere,” the choir leader emphasized.

The recording of the concert performance “Lifting Your Head, White Mother” was immortalized by sound director Andris Ūze, the moment was documented by video artist Ritvars Bluka.
