The Saudi national team is classified in Group Six in the 2023 Asian Cup, where it will participate alongside the teams of Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Oman.
According to what was published by Al-Riyadiah newspaper, prominent goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Owais, who defends Al-Hilal Club and the Saudi national team, will be absent from the stadiums for a period of up to 10 weeks, which is equivalent to approximately two months.
The newspaper also indicated that Al Owais will miss the opportunity to participate with the Saudi national team in the 2023 Asian Nations Cup, due to the doctor’s recommendation that he undergo a rehabilitation program that will take between 8 and 10 weeks, following a successful back surgery.
It is noteworthy that Al Owais suffered a back injury before the start of the current sports season, which led to his absence from participating in the matches. With this absence, Al Owais will miss important matches with Al Hilal, including the round of 16 match in the AFC Champions League, in addition to his team’s matches in the Saudi League.
On the other hand, the national team will play a friendly match against Lebanon on January 4, 2023 in order to prepare for this continental event.
