Ali Al-Bulaihi, the defender of the first Saudi national football team, withdrew from the group training of the “Green Falcons” on Wednesday in Qatar, according to what sources told Al-Riyadiya.
Al-Bulaihi suffered an injury due to contact during a joint game with Abbas Al-Hassan, the midfielder, which prompted the technical staff, led by Italian coach Roberto Mancini, to withdraw the center back to keep him.
The sources described the injury as “minor,” downplaying its negative impact on the player, who is called up for the upcoming Asian Cup, which starts on January 12.
Last Sunday, the national team began its final preparatory camp before the continental qualification, and will face its Lebanese counterpart on Thursday in a trial match.
He will have two more trial matches against the Palestinian and Hong Kong national teams, on January 9 and 10, while he heads to Doha on the 11 of the same month.
The Green Falcons, whose camp is located in the Sealine Resort south of Doha, will face the teams of Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Oman, for the sixth group of the tournament.
According to Al-Riyadiya sources, Al-Bulayhi’s medical staff will undergo tests in the coming hours to determine the possibility of his participation against Lebanon.
