Many people used to start their day with a cup of coffee Ramadan And to stop this habit, some people feel symptoms, foremost of which is a headache, which is called “withdrawal headache”, resulting from the sudden withdrawal of caffeine from the body, as caffeine narrows the blood vessels in the brain, and without drinking coffee or the amount of caffeine that you are used to, your blood vessels expand, The resulting boost in blood flow may trigger a headache or lead to other withdrawal symptoms.

This continues for several days; But steps can be taken to avoid or reduce these symptoms.

The Saudi Ministry of Health has identified the best way to reduce caffeine consumption through several steps, starting with reducing consumption to half a cup per day before the beginning of the holy month.

And she explained – according to an educational infograph published by the ministry – that reducing the consumption of less than 5 drinks per week that contain caffeine can also reduce the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal, pointing out that once this level of consumption is reached, the removal of caffeine from the diet will be comfortable..

In addition to the need to maintain body moisture, as increasing the amount of water that a person consumes after breakfast can help reduce the risk of headache caused by reducing caffeine, as this substance causes frequent urination, which leads to a lack of fluids in the body, and this causes a feeling of headache.

In the same context, many researches have focused on how to overcome the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal, and indicated that topical menthol – the active ingredient of mint – may help soothe headaches by reducing inflammation and relaxing tense muscles, by massaging the forehead with two drops of peppermint oil, this relieves headaches. .
