Saudi Foreign Minister: Middle East security requires a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, affirmed that “the security of the Middle East region requires accelerating the search for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, built on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, in a way that guarantees the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of 1967.” 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Saudi Foreign Minister added: “The Kingdom worked to consolidate the principle of collective action in order to build a better future for the region and the world, by hosting a number of joint regional summits within the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the League of Arab States, with the participation of all countries.”
He stressed “the importance of efforts to achieve the goals of eliminating nuclear weapons, which begin with realizing the necessity of the entire international community implementing its obligations towards existing treaties and legal frameworks, with the aim of reaching a world free of nuclear weapons, especially in the Middle East region.”
Regarding the issue of repeated incidents of desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an, he announced Saudi Arabia’s praise of the decision issued by the extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in this regard, and indicated that his country calls for “the necessity of strengthening dialogue, understanding and cooperation between cultures and civilizations for the sake of peace and harmony in the world.” With the need to adhere to relevant international human rights instruments and laws.”
