Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Credits Sports for Increase in GDP

(CNN) – Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Thursday, praised the “growth of interest in sports” in his country, and pointed to the increase in gross domestic product due to the growth of global interest.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman responded, during an interview he conducted with the chief political anchor of the American Fox News network, Bret Baier, in the city of Neom to the accusation of Saudi Arabia practicing “sportswashing” by investing money to change or improve its image, where he said: “If sportswashing will increase… “At 1% of GDP, I will continue to do sports washing.”

He added: “I don’t care. GDP grew by 1% from sports, and I aim for it to be 1.5%. You name it, we will get 1.5%.”
