It is known that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia invests 1 billion dollars (approximately 1.3 trillion won) every year to support research on immortality.
According to the US Daily Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 31st (local time), Saudi Arabia’s ‘Hevolution Foundation’ has decided to support such an amount for aging treatment research within the next two to four years.
The grants are used by researchers and startups around the world to achieve scientific achievements and develop medicines.
The foundation was established as a non-profit organization in 2018 by decree of the King of Saudi Arabia and began operating in July 2022.
Revolution is a combination of ‘health’ and ‘evolution’, and is said to contain Crown Prince bin Salman’s vision of extending a quality life.
Mehmoud Khan, CEO of the Foundation, said that it challenges aging treatment with a pioneering mind and a non-traditional approach.
He expressed his hopes to accelerate the identification of biomarkers of aging and to finance large-scale clinical trials of aging treatment using existing drugs.
Although these two operations require enormous financial resources, it is not easy to attract global investment because the profits cannot be quickly recovered.
The media analyzed that Crown Prince bin Salman expects the global influence of Saudi Arabia, which he rules, to expand thanks to the activities of the Hevolution Foundation.
