Saudi citizen who farmed wild animals arrested Man arrested for farming wild animals

Jeddah: Saudi citizen arrested for possession of endangered wildlife. He found eight lions and a wolf that he had raised at a rest center in Musahmia near Riyadh. He was captured by the environmental security special forces with the help of the police after it was discovered that he had acquired and bred wild animals in violation of wildlife protection and environmental safety laws. The animals were handed over to the National Wildlife Development Centre.

Colonel Abdurahman Al-Utaibi, spokesman for the Environmental Security Force, said that legal proceedings had been initiated against the suspect and entrusted to the public prosecution. Possession of endangered wild animals is illegal. A fine of up to three crore Riyals and up to 10 years’ imprisonment or either of these two fines are punishable, the spokesman said.
