Saudi Arabia Will Legalize Citizens Who Visit Indonesia, Why?

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaSaudi Arabia will punish people who are naughty and keep traveling to countries that are on the Covid-19 red list. Residents will be banned from traveling for three years.

This was reported by local media media Saudi Press Agency (SPA) citing interior ministry resources. This is the latest effort by King Salman’s state to curb the spread of corona virus, especially the Delta variant.

“Anyone found to be involved will be subject to legal responsibility and severe punishment upon their return. And, will be banned from traveling for three years,” the official was quoted as saying. Reuters, Wednesday (28/7/2021).

Previously, Saudi Arabia banned its citizens from traveling and transiting in a number of countries. Indonesia includes Afghanistan, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Lebanon, Pakistan, South Africa, Turkey, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs stressed that nationals are still prohibited from traveling directly or through countries that have not controlled the pandemic or where the new strain (Delta variant) has spread,” the official said.

The country with a population of 30 million people recorded 1,379 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday. This brings the total to 520,774 cases.

There have been a total of 8,189 deaths since the pandemic broke out. Currently, daily infections in Saudi Arabia are under control, meaning they have fallen from a peak above 4,000 in June 2020 to below 100 since January.
