Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Royal Court announced on Sunday evening that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has been delegated to lead the Kingdom delegation to the Arab summit scheduled in Algeria for the first of November, after the crown prince was unable to do so for medical reasons.
And the Saudi news agency cited the Royal Court’s statement that after King Salman bin Abdulaziz appointed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to lead the Kingdom’s delegation to the Arab Summit, however, “the medical team of the clinics royals advised His Highness to avoid traveling by plane for long distances without stopping, to avoid trauma Ear pressure and the effect on the middle ear.
The statement added that this made it impossible for the Saudi Crown Prince to visit Algeria, “taking into account the duration of the journey to and from a period not exceeding 24 hours”.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz ordered the interim foreign minister to lead the delegation, emphasizing the Kingdom’s support for Algeria and its “support for everything that would make the summit a success”.
On Sunday, the Algerian presidency announced that the Saudi crown prince had apologized for participating in the Arab summit “in compliance with the advice and recommendations of doctors to avoid travel”.
