RIYADH: Saudi Arabia won the first place in the World Robot Olympiad Championship 2022 held in Dortmund, Germany from 17 to 19 this month. Saudi Arabia has achieved this feat behind 72 other participating countries. The Robot Olympiad is a global competition showcasing the creativity of 8-19 year olds in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence and stem programming.
The participating teams in the tournament are managed by the Saudi Wireless, Remote Control and Robot Sports Federation in collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security and Programming of Drones. Other partners included the Saudi Ministry of Education, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Amir Sattam University, King Salman Oasis and Taka Company.
SABIC Liquidation Company and Saudi Telecom Company Solutions participated in the final. This is a historic achievement for Saudi Arabia in the finals of the Olympics which was attended by 365 teams from 73 countries around the world. Apart from that, Saudi Arabia secured 7th place in the Robot Sports category and 11th place in the Future Creators category for the intermediate stage.
Saudi Arabia ranked 14th in the Future Inventors category and 39th in the Robot Tasks for Elementary Stage category. He ranked 42nd in the robotic tasks category for the intermediate stage and 66th in the robotic tasks category for the secondary stage. Saudi Arabia ranks 15th in the category of future engineers.
