Saudi Arabia says Ismail Haniya’s assassination in Tehran violates Iran’s sovereignty – 2024-08-09 12:44:12

Saudi Arabia has called the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in Tehran a “flagrant violation” of Iran’s national sovereignty.

This is an important position from a country that does not have the best relations with Iran but is influential in the Arab world.

The position was made by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Walid al-Kherji during an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held at the request of Iran, which blames Israel for the July 31 assassination of the political leader of Hamas in Tehran.

Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister added that Riyadh rejects “any violation of national sovereignty or interference in the internal affairs of any country.”
