TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government of Saudi Arabia has officially opened the door for pilgrims from Indonesia who want to carry out worship Umrah. This was confirmed after the issuance of the Diplomatic Memorandum of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Jakarta on October 8, 2021.
“The Embassy has received information from various competent parties in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the arrangement for the resumption of the implementation of Umrah for Indonesian Umrah pilgrims,” said the Foreign Minister. Retno Marsudi, in an online press conference, Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Retno said a special committee in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently working to minimize all obstacles that prevent Indonesian Umrah pilgrims from performing Umrah.
In the Diplomatic Note, Retno said both sides were mentioned, in the final stages of discussions on the exchange link technical with Indonesia. The contents explain visitors’ information related to vaccines and will facilitate the process of entering pilgrims.
“The diplomatic note also mentions considering setting a 5-day quarantine period for Umrah pilgrims who do not meet the required health standards,” said Retno.
Retno said the government would follow up on this announcement from Saudi Arabia with a more detailed discussion on the technical implementation. In addition to coordinating with Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Health, communication is also established with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“I myself have coordinated and communicated with both the Minister of Health and the Minister of Religion. My last meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia occurred on the sidelines of the implementation of the 76th UN General Assembly in New York,” said Retno.
