Saudi Arabia is celebrating Flag Day for the first time today

Jeddah – Saudi Arabia is celebrating Flag Day today for the first time in its history. Last week, King Salman announced that Saudi Arabia will celebrate Flag Day on March 11. 11 March 1937 (27 Dhul Hajj 1335) was the day King Abdulaziz approved the Saudi flag. Such a day is dedicated to the value of the national flag which has spread throughout the history of Saudi Arabia since its establishment in 1139 Hijri.

The flag of the country symbolizes the great meanings of monotheism, justice, strength, progress and prosperity. For three centuries, the Saudi flag has witnessed every move to unify the country. Proudly hoisted by the citizens of the country, this flag is an expression of the nation and its strength, sovereignty and unity.

Severe punishment for insulting

The national flag or the royal flag can never be lowered. Public prosecutions have been warned against such people. According to Article 13 of the Flag Code, it is specified that it should not be flown low for certain reasons. Insulting the national flag or royal flags in public is punishable by one year in prison and a fine of 3,000 riyals. The prosecution warned that anyone who insults the national flag, royal flag or any other symbol of the country will be jailed for one year and fined 3000 riyals.

Warning

Public prosecution warned against using the national flag as a trademark or for commercial advertising purposes. According to the text of Article 15, the use of the Saudi flag for purposes other than those prescribed in the Saudi flag system is prohibited, the public prosecution said.
