Saudi Arabia congratulates Biden | Abroad

While other Arab countries had congratulated the Democrat before, the Crown Prince, the de facto ruler of the kingdom, had been silent about President Donald Trump’s defeat. Trump’s Middle East policy and fierce opposition to Iran have received warm support from Riyadh in recent years.

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, in turn, has still not congratulated Biden and Harris. He did congratulate Donald Trump on the victory last Wednesday, but that message turned out to be premature because at that time it was not yet clear who had won.

Janša tweeted the message on Sunday that he hopes for friendly ties with Washington, whichever party is in power. “The US is our strategic partner,” he also wrote. Trump’s wife Melania (50) was born in Slovenia. She was granted permanent US residency in 2001.
