The statement was made by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UN Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya al-Mouallimi to Al Arabiya.
“The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Saudi Arabia will send a delegation to discuss the situation in Afghanistan with the Taliban and influential figures in the country on how best to provide assistance to the nation,” he said.

He asserted, “We call for eliminating the reasons and environments that drive terrorism which is often caused by exclusion, social marginalization and political occupation.”

The Saudi ambassador stressed the importance of respecting the choice of the Afghan people and standing with the nation and not any particular group or government.

He said the Saudi Kingdom is following the Afghan situation through diplomatic channels and wants to promote peace and stability in the country.
“It is time for the Afghan nation to work towards unity and look to the future with hope,” he said.
His remarks came a day after a deadly suicide bombing targeted Kabul airport and killed 110 Afghans and 13 US servicemen, and injured dozens of others. The attack was claimed by ISIS.
