Two acquisition agreements have been signed between the Ministry of Defense and Turkish Baker Defense Industries Company.
The contract will include procurement of drones for the Ministry of Defence. It also aims to increase the readiness of the armed forces and strengthen the country’s defense and production capabilities. Defense Minister Amir Khalid bin Salman tweeted that the agreement was signed during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Saudi Arabia the previous day.
The agreement with the Saudi Ministry of Defense will include technology transfer and cooperation in production, Turkey Baker Company said in a statement. The Turkish President arrived in Saudi as the beginning of his Gulf tour. It is also part of strengthening the joint relationship and economic, investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.
Before the trip, Erdogan had said that apart from Saudi Arabia, he would also visit Qatar and the UAE. The volume of trade between Turkey and the Gulf countries has increased from 1.6 billion dollars to about 2.2 billion dollars in the last 20 years. During his visit to the three Gulf countries, Erdogan said that he would seek ways to increase this number to a greater extent through business forums organized in Jeddah, Doha and Abu Dhabi.
