Saudi Arabia received the first supply of vaccine for a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) on the 16th (local time), the state-run Alaviya Broadcasting Corporation reported.

Saudi Health Minister Taupik Alavia told a press conference that day, “the first shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine have arrived in Saudi Arabia. We hope this will be the beginning of an end to the crisis, and we will supply everyone as soon as possible.” The Secretary of State Alabya, however, did not disclose how much vaccine Saudi Arabia received.

Saudi Arabia is the first country in the Gulf region to receive a vaccine developed by US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German Bioentech, according to dpa. Saudi Arabia started registration of those who wish to receive the Corona 19 vaccine the day before, and according to the Ministry of Health, more than 100,000 people applied for the vaccine in one day.

The Saudi government plans to start vaccinating the Corona 19 vaccine by the end of this year, and senior citizens over 65 years of age and health workers will be given priority. Earlier, the Saudi government approved the use of Pfizer and Bioentech vaccines on the 10th.

According to Waldometer, in Saudi Arabia, with a total population of 34 million, there were 36,155 cumulative corona19 confirmed cases by the 15th, of which 6069 died.
