Saudi Arabia: air taxis are also arriving in Riyadh

French engineering company Setec Group is a key partner in sustainable transport

French engineering and consultancy firm Setec Group is working on urban air mobility in Saudi Arabia.

The concept developed with the company’s European partners and manufacturers aims to provide air mobility for people and goods.

After Dubai, which plans to launch its first flying taxi by 2026, Saudi Arabia is also joining the race for air mobility.

King Salman Park is the world’s largest urban park in the heart of Riyadh, with multidisciplinary engineering design by Setec.

The French provider of integrated engineering solutions is developing new mobility solutions, particularly for the Gulf region, with the development of public transport and soft mobility services for smart cities.

“It’s like an air taxi. We have developed a preliminary feasibility study for Riyadh, to connect the capital with the new cities that are developing nearby, namely Diriyah and Qiddiyah. The service could be implemented in the coming years, to facilitate road infrastructure and for quick transit movements between different centralities,” Patrick Bteich, partner of the Setec group, told Arab News.

“Air mobility needs special permits from various ministries, and work on corridors is necessary to mitigate safety issues. From pilot to implementation, it can take a few years depending on regulation. But it is a project that could be developed for Vision 2030,” added Bteich.
