Media reports stated, on Saturday, that the Saudi Al-Ahly club had reached a “final agreement” with the Algerian international, Riyad Mahrez, and that the signing of the contract would take place after the completion of the medical examinations.
The Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadiah, said that the 32-year-old former Leicester club star will join the foreign team camp directly.
The famous Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in news of transfers of football stars, said through his official account on Twitter, that Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia is “pressing to complete the Riyadh Mahrez deal,” stressing that the talks that have been taking place with the player since last June are “in progress and that he is preparing to accept the offer”.
Romano confirmed that Manchester City is still waiting to obtain the official offer, before the star of the “Desert Warriors” team conducts a medical examination.
It should be noted that Mahrez achieved many achievements during his time in England, most notably what became known as the “Miracle of Leicester City”, after the “Foxes” won the English Premier League championship for the first time in the club’s history during the 2015-2016 season.
The Algerian star contributed greatly to achieving that “miracle”, and was rewarded for his efforts by winning the title of best player in the English Premier League after that historic achievement.
Mahrez also contributed during the past season to achieving the first title for Manchester City in the Champions League competition, in addition to winning the English League Cup 4 times with the “Citizens”.
