Saudi activist Loujain Al-Hathloul announces her master’s degree from the Sorbonne: “Despite the circumstances, pain and oppression”

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Saudi activist Loujain Al-Hathloul announced, on Thursday, that she obtained a master’s degree from the French Sorbonne University, thanking everyone who supported her.

Al-Hathloul said, in a tweet on her Twitter account: “Despite the circumstances, pain, oppression, and obstruction to my academic career for years, I succeeded in obtaining a master’s degree from the Sorbonne University (Paris) after 6 years of insistence … Thank you to everyone who supported and supported me, and for Their heads are my family.”

Loujain Al-Hathloul published a picture of her holding her certificate from the Sorbonne, which shows that she obtained a master’s degree in sociology.

Loujain Al-Hathloul has been banned from traveling from Saudi Arabia since her release on February 10, 2021, after spending 1,001 days in prison.

On December 28, 2020, the Specialized Criminal Court ruled that Loujain be imprisoned for 5 years and 8 months, with a suspension of two years and 10 months of the sentence. Her family said at the time that the ruling included a travel ban for a period of years after her release.
