Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy managed to set a record that was included in the Guinness World Records through the fastest smash which broke the 565km/jam mark. Meanwhile, in the women’s section, the record belongs to Pearly Tan.
The attempt to record the record was carried out in a field located at the Yonex complex in Saitama, Japan on April 14. Rankireddy, quoted from the Yonex website, was able to record a spectacular 565km/hour.
In the women’s section, Pearly Tan is no less slick. Pearly Tan can touch 438km/jam on the same day.
The speed of smashes recorded by Rankireddy and Pearly Tan outperformed the speed that can be achieved by other sports. Formula 1 is said to only be able to touch 372.6 km/hour as the best speed. While golf is at 349.38 km/hour.
Other racquet sports, namely tennis, only recorded a time of 263km/hour. While table tennis is at 116km/jam.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, along with Chirag Shetty is one of the world’s top men’s doubles players. They are currently in third place in the world.
Meanwhile, Pearly Tan, together with Thinaah Muralitharan, are now in 11th place in the world. Previously they had penetrated the top 10 in the world.
Specifically for smashing during a match, no player has yet been able to break the 500km/hour speed record. From several sources, the owner of the record for the highest smash speed during a match is Mads Kolding, who scored 426km/hour while playing in the Premier Badminton League in India.
