Saturn’s rings can only be nearly 100 million years old. Even so, his training remains an unknown unknown.
According to a study published in the journal Science, the origin of Saturn’s rings could be related to the destruction of an ancient moon. This is the conclusion drawn from a study conducted by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which further concludes that these rings are one of the most enigmatic discoveries in the solar system.
Another of the conclusions suggests that, about 150 million years ago, Saturn underwent a violent transformation, when it was inhabited by an ancient moon, called “Chrysalis”, which orbited the planet for millions of years and became unstable as it approached. . Saturn. As a result of this proximity, the moon hit the planet and demonstrated Saturn’s current tilt.
Subsequently, part of this moon continued to orbit the planet until it shattered into small pieces of ice that gave rise to Saturn’s rings. This event may also have caused the size of Titan’s orbit to increase to its current levels, which could also explain Saturn’s oblique shape.
Another of the questions raised by this study concerns the tilt of the planet and the orbit of its largest moon, Titan. However, there are still no answers for them.
