Saturn and Jupiter will look like twin planets on January 21, 2020

This rare event is known as the Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn.

Citing the information on Instagram of the Lapan Space Science Center, @pussainsa_lapan, Monday (21/12/2020), the Jupiter-Saturn Great Conjunction is a conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Saturn, where the two planets are closest in the sky.

Great Conjunction Jupiter-Saturn is arguably a rare event, because it occurs every 19.6 years. The previous event occurred on 30 May 2000 and will again occur on 5 November 2040, 10 April 2060, and 15 March 2020.

“The peak of this phenomenon actually occurred on December 22, 2020 at 01.18 WIB. However, because the two giant planets are both under the horizon, this phenomenon can be witnessed the night before, December 21, 2020 at 18.30 WIB,” said Lapan in his account. The Instagram.

To witness the Great Jupiter Conjunction-Saturn, you can look up to the southwest sky just after sunset.
