Saturday in Russia could literally fall into the water because of the expected severe weather. The FIA has moved the first Formula 3 race of the weekend from Saturday to Friday.
The 20-lap race was initially scheduled for 07:35 Dutch time, but will now take place at 16:25 on Friday afternoon. As a result, qualifying for Formula 2 has been brought forward by five minutes, in order to create a little more margin. Furthermore, no changes have been made to the weekend format yet, but due to expected extreme rainfall, further changes are certainly not excluded.

The minimum chance of precipitation is 85 percent from 12 noon to 4 p.m. local time Saturday. Until noon this is even 100 percent, after which it drops to 95 percent at the time of qualifying. Even if there are a number of dry periods in between, the Sochi Autodrom will be soaking wet. 5.5 centimeters of rain is expected in the next 24 hours.
It all seems to clear up on Sunday, although there is still a significant chance of precipitation. At the time of the Grand Prix, it is between 21 and 33 percent.
