It was too busy in the Eindhoven city center on Saturday afternoon. The municipality called on people to stop coming ‘if it is not necessary’.
It is the first weekend that people are again allowed to shop without an appointment and have a drink on the terrace.

The municipality of Eindhoven has taken several measures to regulate the crowds. For example, so-called City Hosts are walking around to address people about their behavior and it is indicated on the road how people can best walk.
–
At around 3 PM, the council called on shoppers to stay away from certain downtown streets. The large crowds subsided at the end of the afternoon. The shops are now closed and peace has returned to the center.

Broken pressure gauge
Something also went wrong with the pressure gauge set by the municipality. People can use this pressure gauge online to see whether it is possible to keep the 1.5 meter distance in parts of the city in the center. While enforcers saw that this was no longer possible in some streets, the meter still gave a green signal. This gave people at home the impression that they could easily visit the center.

The pressure gauge is now working properly again.
