Acting European vice-champion Satková confirmed her excellent form this season, in which she turned two of her three World Cup starts into victories. The 22-year-old competitor, who only failed to make the Olympic final in Paris this year, won the qualification in China and did not find a conqueror even in the final. She beat Britain’s Mallory Franklin by four tenths of a second.
The second Czech canoeist, Tereza Kneblová, took fourth place, almost a second behind bronze medalist Marta Bertoncelli from Italy. Among female kayakers, Satková did not do so well, she finished 20th in the qualification and did not make it to the final. The race was won by Frenchwoman Camille Prigentová.
Chaloupka, the 2021 world champion from the Czech Republic, also made it to the podium. In the final, he lost 94 hundredths of a second to the winning Briton Ryan Westley, while the Frenchman Nicolas Gestin got ahead of the Czech canoeist. Jiří Prskavec also advanced to the canoe finals, taking eleventh place with a loss of more than eight seconds.
In the kayakers’ final, the Olympic champion from Tokyo Prskavec was absent. He ranked fourteenth in qualifying and, like thirteenth-placed Vít Přindiš, did not fit into the top twelve. Only Jakub Krejčí, who finished fourth, defended the Czech colors in the fight for medals. He lost 22 hundredths of a second to the bronze medalist Felix Oschmautz from Austria due to two penalty seconds. The order of the first two places was the same as at the Olympic Games in Paris, the Italian Giovannide Gennaro won before the Frenchman Titouan Castryck.
In the marathon today, the race was run on a shorter course. Czech kayaker Kateřina Mílová took tenth place, canoeist Alžběta Veverková was eleventh.
On Saturday, at the Super Cup, white water competitors will try out the new short slalom format. Speed canoeists will also take part in the event.
