Satellites: why London wants to acquire a stake in OneWeb

The United Kingdom is ready to come to the aid of OneWeb in order to realize the ambitions it has in space. Interested buyers had until Friday evening 26 to file an offer on the mini-satellite constellation project in low orbit.

According to the Financial Times, Boris Johnson has agreed to put up to 500 million pounds of public money on the table as part of a larger consortium also bringing together private companies. This could make the British state a shareholder of more than 20% in the operator, placed since March 27 under the protection of Chapter 11 American bankruptcy, explains the “FT”.
