Sat.1 is currently not happy with its series program on Tuesday evening and will therefore change its approach from next week.
So far, the fourth season of has been running from 8:15 p.m. “MacGyver” (as a German premiere) at 9:15 pm became the short-lived series “Reef Break” was shown as a free TV premiere and the tenth season of followed at 10:10 pm “Hawaii Five-0” (also as a German premiere).
Starting next week (September 15), Sat.1 will ban “Reef Break” from primetime and will consequently show the free TV premiere at night at around 1:20 am, where a repetition of the series block from primetime has already been running. Sat.1 fills the free broadcasting hour from 9:15 pm on September 15th and 22nd with an additional new episode of “MacGyver”, and on September 29th, “Hawaii Five-0” will be on from 9:15 pm, here too then shown a fresh double episode.
The season finals of “MacGyver” and “Hawaii Five-0” are due on September 29th. For the latter series, it is also the series finale.
Last Tuesday, the series block from Sat.1 did not exceed a 6.0 percent market share among young viewers on Tuesday: “MacGyver” and “Hawaii Five-0” generated the value at the beginning and end of the block, “Reef Break” provided with 4.5 percent for a significant sag in the middle (TV wish list reported). So it’s no wonder that Sat.1 is now taking the outstanding episodes of the short-lived series out of the line of fire. Due to the episode double packs of the two series remaining in prime time, they will then come to their finals two weeks earlier than under the old broadcasting schedule.
In the USA, it was announced in the spring that “Hawaii Five-0” would end with season ten (the finale of which had been filmed before the corona pandemic). “Reef Break” also failed to catch on and was discontinued after a season. Only “MacGyver” made the cut and was extended for season five.
