Italian Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali declared La Gazetta dello Sport that the club did not sell Brazilian defender Rogerio to Spartak for ethical reasons.

Agent Rogerio Vinicius Prates told RB Sport on July 20 that the 25-year-old Brazilian was very upset about the transfer disruption.

“Negotiations were led by the player’s representative, there was a very serious offer for €8 million, but we thought about it and decided to refuse. Ethical reasons: we didn’t want to deal with the Russians,” Carnevali said.

According to him, the club decided that the refusal to do business “with a certain country” is more important than the transfer of a player.

The player of the Italian club was upset because of the failure of the transition to Spartak

Sassuolo finished 13th in the Italian league last season.

Rogerio has another year of contract with the Italian team. The defender made 37 appearances for Sassuolo last season and provided four assists.

“Spartak” in the first round of the RPL on July 23 will play with “Orenburg”. The betting company Fonbet accepts bets on the victory of the Red-Whites with a coefficient of 1.55, on the victory of Orenburg with a coefficient of 5.70.
