“Sasko is much better. He is regaining his functions. His cheeks and hands are much pinker. He is drinking water constantly. We are waiting to feed him as it has to be done gradually. picking up”. This was stated on the air of “Na Fokus” by the father of twelve-year-old Alexander.
He pointed out that if his son really only survived in the mountains, then he is a superman. “If that proves to be the case, it’s beyond my imagination of his abilities.” Alexander Tsvetanov thanked the rescuers, calling them “brave men with huge hearts who gave him back his life”.
“The moment I saw that Sashko was alive and breathing. This is the moment that stuck in my mind the most. And the moment I saw that he was breathing.” This was stated by Veselin Georgiev, the volunteer he found in the study of “Na Fakus” Alexander in Pernik, who has been missing for 9 days.
According to him, for 5 minutes he could not believe that this was the wanted child. “I’m glad I was wrong and I was wrong because I initially believed that he couldn’t survive alone in the mountains for so long. I got up and mentally prepared to go to him when I first noticed him.”
The place where Sashko was found is difficult to access. “There were bushes with gaps between them. That’s how I noticed it” Veselin said.
The director of the PSS, Emil Neshev, revealed the details of the search itself. “We have received intelligence that it may have all happened earlier. Meaning that the child was not reported missing at the time of the original report. That is, he had more time in daylight to move around. When we finished our fieldwork on Monday, we said to the police officer who was coordinating the action on the field that we wanted a point of reference. We had searched a fairly large area, but we had left the southern slopes as more impervious because they were more difficult to overcome”.
Rescuers then compared the GPS track logs. “We compared the data and saw which parts weren’t visited. We then began methodically scouring the area. This place has definitely been visited. There were a lot of volunteers and first responders on the field,” she stressed. She added, “Perhaps the large number of people scared the child and he hid.”
“There were a lot of people in the lower part of the area,” volunteer Milko Mikhalkov confirmed.
All three rescuers were adamant that the boy was alone in the mountains during all the days of his disappearance. “He was out there alone and he survived,” they pointed out. “What I saw in his eyes was that he knew we were there to help him,” Veselin was emphatic.
