Sasha Baron Cohen and Ayala Fischer reveal: “We filed a request to end our marriage”

The two published a statement last night (Fri) on their Instagram pages, in which they wrote: “After a long tennis match that has lasted over twenty years, we are finally putting down our rackets.”

The news of the divorce of the two comes against the background of a storm that is currently taking place around Baron Cohen, following accusations by the actress Rebel Wilson, who played alongside Baron Cohen in 2016 in the movie “Grimsby”, and claimed that he caused her to treat her inappropriately.

The couple met for the first time at a party in Sydney in 2001. Speaking about their first meeting, Baron Cohen told the New York Times: “She was funny. We were at a very pretentious party, and she and I connected because we were down on the other people at the party together. I knew right away.”

The two got engaged in 2004, when near their wedding, Fisher converted. They got married in an intimate ceremony in Paris in March 2010. They are the parents of three children: two daughters (15 and 13) and a son (8).

In an interview in 2009, Fisher shared: “I love Judaism, the fact that there is such a huge emphasis on family, and to me family is everything. We are quite observant, we keep Shabbat and have Friday night dinner, and celebrate the holidays. I really enjoy being part of the Jewish community.”
