SAS with a 7.6 billion deficit
SAS reported a loss of 8 billion SEK (7.6 million Norwegian kroner) last year, according to the annual accounts. This is a decrease of 1.5 billion from last year.
In the last quarter, the deficit was SEK 1.7 billion. However, the head of SAS Norway is optimistic.
– We are starting to see the results of the restructuring we have worked very hard on. We are able to reach better deals with our suppliers and we see that customers are returning, so there are positive points in these results as well, says Kjetil Håbjørg, CEO of SAS Norway at NRK.
The reason for the deficit is, among other things, the high dollar exchange rate.
– In the last quarter, we were hit hard by changes in exchange rates. That’s because we value many of our assets in dollars and when the exchange rate changes, we account for major changes, but core operations are improving at SAS, says Håbjørg.
Yesterday evening the company agreed a new employment contract with the Norwegian cabin crew and therefore there will be no strike for Christmas.
