Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is expanding its summer Copenhagen offer: from 2025 up to three times a week to the Danish capital from May to the end of September 2025
Scandinavian Airlines has been a reliable and integral part of the winter flight program at Salzburg Airport for many years and takes guests to the region’s winter sports recreation areas during the cold season. After snow, ice and winter magic, the Danish airline successfully launched a weekly Salzburg-Copenhagen connection last summer. Due to high demand from both Salzburg and Copenhagen, an expanded program has been set up for the summer of 2025. The flights start from mid-May (each Saturday), and are offered up to three times a week (plus Tuesdays and Thursdays) in mid-summer (July & August). Flights run until the end of September and can be booked at www.flysas.com or from the experts in the travel agency, who also have the best recommendations for a Scandinavia tour. “The expansion of Scandinavian Airlines’ direct flight to Copenhagen enriches the summer flight schedule from Salzburg,” said Chief Commercial Officer of Salzburg Airport, Bernhard Wodl.
For many passengers, Copenhagen does not have to be the end of the journey. The airline serves more than 105 destinations from the Danish capital. Next summer, new cities – including Seattle in the USA – will be added to the global route network. With the recent joining of the SkyTeam alliance and Copenhagen’s attractive location in continental Europe, numerous destinations in Northern, Central and Western Europe can be reached quickly. In addition, Copenhagen will increasingly serve as an important transit point for long-haul flights, connecting Europe with North America and Asia. “This increase in direct flights to Copenhagen is not only interesting for incoming traffic, but also for all passengers from Salzburg and Bavaria who want to visit Copenhagen or reach other destinations on the SAS route network. City trips and short trips are particularly popular, and with Copenhagen we are adding another exciting European metropolis to our summer offering,” Wodl continued.
The route is flown with a modern Embraer 195 or the Airbus A230neo. Both aircraft impress with low noise emissions, maximum comfort and economical fuel consumption thanks to efficient engine technology.

Copenhagen
The capital of Denmark impresses with a mix of tradition and modernity and captivated millions of visitors (almost 63 million overnight stays) in 2022. Founded in 1167, Copenhagen looks back on an eventful history; today the metropolis is not only the political and economic center of Denmark, but also the seat of parliament, the highest court and residence of the royal family. From Copenhagen’s landmark, the Little Mermaid (bronze sculpture based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen), visitors discover picturesque Nyhavn with its colorful gabled houses, restaurants and bars. The famous Tivoli, an amusement park in the heart of the city, provides entertainment for young and old. Another highlight is Amalienborg Palace, the city residence of the Danish royal family, which impresses with its magnificent architecture and the daily changing of the guard. Be careful – hold on to your credit cards when you go to one of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe – Strøget. PURE shopping is the order of the day here! The old town with its cobblestone streets and historic buildings conveys the charm of bygone times, in contrast to the many modern buildings such as the Black Diamond (extension of the Royal Library), the opera house and the new theater. Considered one of the most livable cities in the world, Copenhagen has a well-developed public transport network (including the metro) and has become a veritable Mecca for foodies in recent years. Fresh and local ingredients, combined with creative preparation methods, guarantee a very special taste experience – but the traditional Danish smørrebrød should not be missing!
