SAS, Aviation | Dagfinn was informed that his SAS flight was canceled:

Dagfinn Ringås had booked a Svalbard trip as a gift to the family and their sisters 6-8. May.

– We were to travel from Friday to Sunday. A couple of weeks before we were to travel to Svalbard, the journey home was moved from Sunday to night to Saturday.

– It’s hair-raising

The family had booked lots of activities both on Friday and Saturday.

– It’s completely hopeless. It does not make sense to travel to Svalbard on a Friday and back home on Saturday night.

Ringås called SAS to find out why the airline had rebooked them on another flight.

– I was informed that the flight on Sunday had been canceled, but then I told the SAS employee that it was still possible to book tickets online for the same flight. The person in question replied again that the flight had been canceled. In the end, my sisters went home on Monday, and I booked a new trip home on Sunday with Norwegian.

When Ringås arrived at the airport, he was shocked.

– When I went to the airport, I saw that the SAS plane was still on schedule. The flight was not canceled. It’s hair-raising. Why are they lying about this?

Ringås has been a diamond member at SAS for many years, and wonders if he was thrown out of the flight because the trip was booked with bonus points.

– There will of course be speculation on my part, but I quickly think that they have overbooked the plane and got a problem that they have chosen to solve by throwing away those who have booked the trip with bonus points.

– The plane was put back in

SAS’s press officer John Eckhoff says that the flight was canceled, but then rescheduled.

– We have then not been able to book in all the original passengers. This is very unfortunate, and of course we refund the ticket that was canceled and provide accommodation for those who may have an extra night.

Cancellations with the airline have created several headlines in the last two weeks.

Last week, Nettavisen wrote about Jan Tore Kjær’s flight to France, which was canceled only a few hours before departure, while sleeping.

– It is so disrespectful to cancel only a couple of hours in advance while we sleep. It cuts down on our vacation and ruins the quality. We should have been informed much earlier, the sports manager told Nettavisen.

The cause in this case was illness in one of the pilots and problems finding another pilot in such a short time.

And last week it was announced that SAS will cut its flights this summer both domestically and abroad. All the Scandinavian countries are affected, and an aviation analyst believes that around 650,000 Norwegians can have their summer plans changed.

But here Eckhoff thinks there is little cause for concern.

– Few people are affected, since only 4,000 of a total of 75,000 flights are canceled. Most are rebooked for another flight the same day, says press manager John Eckhoff to Nettavisen.
