Tennis, swimming, football, disabled tennis, athletics, gymnastics, wrestling are disciplines among others which regularly make Sarreguemines famous at the national or international level. The notion of a sports city has always been one of the priorities displayed by successive municipalities since 1989. This fundamental work, which involves the training of young people, qualified and talented educators, and committed and dedicated volunteers, represents a profitable investment. For three decades, the sports results of local clubs, whether individually or collectively, have borne fruit.

Handisport athlete of the decade
No surprise in this area with the candidacy of this fabulous professional wheelchair tennis player. Nicolas Peifer won two medals, including one in gold in doubles with Stéphane Houdet at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He is one of the most accomplished players of the decade in disabled sports having won all four Grand Slam tournaments in doubles.

Coach and team of the decade
Here again, the most deserving is of course Eric Cirk. The gray eminence of the wrestling world in Sarreguemines. Club coach, this quality technician has led his troops seven times to the title of French team champions. These are the years 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018 and 2019. It is a wreath of laurels that must be woven for this charismatic coach and his wrestlers.
