It was not a perfect medley final for Sarah Sjöström. She fell behind in the backstroke and never caught up but took bronze in the time 58.05.
– I had hoped that I would swim a little faster in the final, but I am not 15 years old anymore and can not run as many doubles as I want anymore, says Sjöström and refers to the fact that she swam the semifinals in the 100 meters freestyle half an hour earlier.
The European Championship gold went to the Polish Alicja Tchorz and the silver went to the Russian Maria Kameneva. The victory time was written 57.82.
In the trial, Sjöström swam at 57.90. The star Swede, who has a gold from earlier during the European Championships, has a personal best in the 100 meter medley that reads 57.10.
