It was a false arrest order, staged by showing the Scotland Yard card and evoking the alleged violation of the anti Covid rules, to allow Wayne Couzens, a 48-year-old policeman, to kidnap 33-year-old Sarah Everard last March, then raped and killed by the same agent.
New details emerge of one of the most brutal and sensational femicides recently reported in London and other British cities.
The revelation was made today by the prosecution in an introductory hearing of the trial against Couzens, pleading guilty to murder in the Old Bailey court, as he had done some time ago with police colleagues.
Her involvement in the investigation fueled the controversy over the episode and more generally on the negligence attributed by numerous activists to the police in the protection of women’s safety.
Also because the accused had been touched by suspicions of improper and dangerous behavior since before the Everard case, without ever being indicted.
This reconstruction, if confirmed, certifies the premeditated nature of the crime. It was also made possible by the abuse of authority and police intimidation, and then resulted in ferocious sexual violence followed by the strangling of the victim.
