Sarah Michelle Gellar: ‘Men still don’t take me seriously on the film set’ | Movies & Series

Despite her success with various films and series, Sarah Michelle Gellar notices that men in the profession do not always take her seriously. The actress says this in an interview with The Guardian.

Gellar in 2021 criticized the working atmosphere in the production of the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired between 1997 and 2003. A toxic male culture would have prevailed on the set.

Nowadays, film recordings would be a lot friendlier, says the actress in response to the new series Wolf Pack. She is involved as an actress and producer.

“It’s much easier for actors to approach me when they’re not comfortable,” says Gellar. “Or even if they don’t like their hair or makeup.” Still, not everything works as she would like.

“I am still not taken seriously by men on film sets,” says the 45-year-old actress. “Sometimes it still seems necessary to read my resume. And say how many series I’ve done, how much experience I have with 250 extras at 2am, a late shot or a stunt. I have that kind of not only produced things, but also played in them myself. Listen to me, because I know how it is.”

In that respect, Gellar is different than before. “I can say things like that now,” the actress notes. “Ten years ago it probably would have been different.”
