A few days ago, 52 migrants crossed our border with Turkey on a ladder. They spent two days in the forest around Yambol, then got on the truck with which they reached the village of Lokorsko. This was announced by the director of NSlS Borisalv Sarafov. “Obviously the fence is easy to get over,” Sarafov said.
We remind you that 18 of the migrants died as a result of suffocation, and another 34 were taken to several hospitals in Sofia. They are all men aged around 25 years of Afghan origin.

One of the suspects lives in the nearby village of Chepintsi. His home is being searched for items incriminating the activity. This is what Sarafov said on the air of NOVA. According to investigators, he was the one driving the truck.
What happened, how and why they suffocated is yet to be established.
The victims are being interrogated by the NSLS, Sarafov also said. 10 investigators are working on the case.
16 DNA samples were also taken from the truck, which will establish who the driver is. “Undoubtedly, we will find out who drove the truck”, Sarafov was categorical.

At the moment, there are 5 people detained. All of them have multiple criminal convictions, two of them have multiple convictions for migrant trafficking. This was confirmed on NOVA by the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Petar Todorov. “The suspected organizers of the group have two pre-trial proceedings for last year. On one count there is a suspended sentence of 5 months of imprisonment”, he added.
They are detained for 24 hours. Their homes in Sofia and the countryside are being searched.
The prosecutor’s office announced that the owner of the truck is from the Burgas region.
According to information from NOVA sources, one of the detainees is Lyubomir Nedyalkov, nicknamed Delkoto.
He was convicted of channeling. He was last arrested in 2017. His role in the tragic incident that happened on Friday was related to the organization of the traffic. He was already recognized by several Afghans who survived the truck.
Delkoto is married to an Afghan woman whose brother lives in Istanbul and sends groups of migrants to Bulgaria, NOVA learned more.
