Sara Sorribes Tormo Responds to Criticism over Doubles Match Disqualification at French Open

Sara Sorribes Tormo has responded to the criticism she and Marie Bouzkova received after a doubles match at the French Open. On Sunday, Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova played Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi in the round of 16 at the French Open.

After Kato accidentally hit a ball girl, she and her doubles partner received a warning. But Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova went to the referee’s chair to tell him the ball girl was crying.

The supervisor was then called and the initial warning became a disqualification for Kato and Sutjiadi. Many fans were upset with Sorribes and Bouzkova, claiming that they went to the referee’s chair with the intention of disqualifying Kato and Sutjiadi.

Additionally, fans were upset that Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova smiled as tournament officials appeared to agree to disqualification for Kato and Sutjiadi.

Sorribes Tormo spoke out about the criticism she and Bouzkova received.

“We said the ball girl was crying because we were scared.

And that the ball was direct because he didn’t see it. Everything else – the decision was made by the supervisor and I don’t think we did anything bad. That’s the only thing I’ll say about it,” Sage Sorribes Tormo laut Gaspar Ribeiro Lanca.

Sorribes Tormo admitted it was hard to read certain comments directed against her and Bouzkova.

“First of all, it’s a very bad situation that happened yesterday. It’s also hard for Marie and I to see what people are saying. The only thing we did yesterday was go to the referee and explain to him what happened.” added Sorribes Tormo.

Meanwhile, Kato revealed on Sunday night that she was penalized by the French Open.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to the ball girl, my partner Aldila & the team and my supporters for the unfortunate incident that happened today. It was totally unintentional.

As a result, I am penalized by the RG by losing my prize money and points. I appreciate your continued support!” Kato tweeted.
