Hjalmarsson is suspended for a crosscheck on Germany’s Bottof Tavea in the group final on Monday, which Sweden lost 0-1.

According to the WC tournament’s disciplinary committee, the cross-checking was “directly against the neck of the German player and careless and cannot be tolerated”.

In the dugout afterwards, Hjalmarsson also pushed one of the referees.

She received a two-minute suspension for her cross-checking.

– I have to say that I am surprised, considering several worse offenses in the tournament that have not even resulted in expulsion, but we accept the IIHF’s decision, says the Women’s Crowns federation captain Ulf Lundberg in a message.

SVT broadcasts Sweden’s match against Canada starting at 23.00 in SVT2/Play on Thursday.
