Swedish success at home.
Sara Hector took the season’s fifth podium in the World Cup – when she came second in the giant slalom in Åre.
– A little sour. It would have been cool to take a win at home, but maybe there will be more chances, she tells Viaplay.
Hector was the first out in the first run and immediately showed how to go fast in Åre. The lead before the second run to the overall leader in the World Cup Lara Gut-Behrami was 61 hundredths.
When it came time to jump out of the starting gate in second, Hector had a dream position. However, after only having the 25th best time in second, Hector had to settle for second place.
“Poor inspection”
– I started very straight in the second run. I didn’t stand a chance… I could barely ‘carve’ around. It was so slow. The second ride was probably a mixture of bad inspection, I didn’t realize it was so round, and a bit of nervousness, says Hector.
Federica Brignone won, 33 hundredths ahead of Hector. Third was Gut-Behrami.
Sara Hector has had a strong season and has now taken five podium places, including one victory.
No other Swede made it to the second round, although Lisa Nyberg was close with her 32nd place.
