Sara Hector on the podium again

Sara Hector shows emerging form ahead of the WC in two weeks.

She was second before the second run of the giant slalom in Kronplatz and stayed on the podium when she finished third behind Mikaela Shiffrin and Ragnhild Mowinckel.

– It was very fun for me to share a podium place with Ragnhild. She is the same age as me and comes from Norway. We have competed together for a very long time and it was the first time we were on the podium at the same time. It was simply a lovely day, says a happy Sara Hector after the third podium of the winter.

Hector’s season has not been as successful as the last but she is happy with both of her rides in Wednesday’s competition.

– I felt that I was back to trying to push in the skiing. It wasn’t like it was a clean ride and I nailed every turn, really not, but I managed to get back to having fun and pushing. That is the important thing if you want to succeed in this sport, she says.

Have you been too careful earlier this winter?

– It’s a complex sport and there are many things that haven’t quite worked out. When you lose a little self-confidence, it is very difficult to succeed.

Mikaela Shiffrin took her 84th victory in the World Cup and is now only two victories short of Ingemar Stenmark’s record.

– Oh my God, I was pushing so hard and hoping that I would be able to pass all the gates on the right side. I feel dead – mentally I’m so tired but the skiing makes it just roll on and it’s a fantastic feeling, says Shiffrin in Viaplay’s broadcast.

Hector hails Shiffrin

Sara Hector is impressed by Shiffrin.

– Incredible. She really rides so amazingly well. She is very strong and it feels like she is on a good level mentally. It’s very cool, says the Swede.

21-year-old Hilma Lövblom came in 13th place and Estelle Alphand in 18th. Lisa Nyberg and Hanna Aronsson Elfman were not allowed to drive the second run.

To the results.
