Sara Hector started the World Cup competition in Austrian Lienz strongly. The Swede was second after the first race, 63 hundredths behind the leading American Mikaela Shiffrin.
The race began with strange scenes where the rider crashed and had to be led off with his arm in a sling, which meant that the start had to be postponed.
31-year-old Hector has started the season with four fourth places, three in the parade branch giant slalom and one in slalom, as the best result.
But now she finally got around to it.
Mikaela Shiffrin took the 92nd victory
Sara Hector went out with over a second to spare on leader Federica Brignone, Italy, and it looked good for a long time. But in the end, the Swede lost a lot of time and was beaten by a paltry seven hundredths.
– Okay, she lost a lot of time at the end, but for her own part, this was a very nice announcement, says Pernilla Wiberg in SVT.
The superb Mikaela Shiffrin then stood on the podium for the pressure and took home another World Cup victory, her 92nd of all time.
Also last year, Hector finished in third place in Lienz.
